Nowadays, Spanish (Español) is one of the most spoken languages in the world. The use of this language has more and more influence,in our lives and in our current globalized world. By now, according to some enquiries, there are about 400 million Spanish native speakers.

In the United States, more than 42 millions inhabitants speak better Spanish than English! They represent 14% of the US population. So if you travel to California or Florida, don’t forget your Spanish dictionary!

Spanish belongs to the Roman twig of the Indo-European and comes from the Latin and shows a lot of similarities with its geographic neighbours in Europe. Regarding to phonology, grammar and spelling, Spanish is related to different languages. Portuguese language, for instance, is very close to Spanish. Besides, many languages are derived from Spanish such as Catalan (Catalonia dialect) or Vasco (Basque). Spanish shows less similarities with French and Italian, but in spite of this, Spanish has strong links with these languages because of the Latin background.

Spain has a rich linguistic heritage. There are four official languages; Castilian Spanish (the most commonly spoken), Catalan (used in Cataluña and the Balearics), Basque (spoken in Basque regions of both France and Spain) and, finally, Galician (spoken in the region of Galicia). Besides, there are many local dialects, for instance in Valencia and in Andalucía. This all is part of the diverse Spanish culture, which you will discover during your Internship in Spain.

So there is no need to remind you how useful and important is this language. Speaking with native speakers is undoubtedly the best way to learn Spanish. StageSpain makes it possible for students. It was created by and for young people and now we have more than 400 internships in marketing, tourism, entertainment, reception, compatibility or hospitality, so you can work and learn at the same time!

Until 1975, Spain was under Franco dictatorship. Nowadays, Spain is a constitutional monarchy divided into 17 autonomous communities, including the off-shore territories of the Balearics (in the east) and the Canaries (off Africa’s north-western shares). Also Spain makes part of the European Union that’s why it’s easy for you to do an Internship in Spain.
After King Juan Carlos came to power, Spanish culture quickly changed to encourage the development of the tourism industry that brought so many of us to its coasts. The British, especially, have fallen in love with Spain and this explains why this destination is so popular for buyers of overseas properties.

Spain is the world’s third largest wine producer; with an industry that most experts describe as the fastest improving viniculture of the recent decades. In Spain, Rioja is the most appreciated variety of wine: highly distinctive available in both red and white. When you will have your day off, you can taste typical Spanish food and drinks.

Widely known for Flamenco music and dance, bullfights, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine, Spain has much more to offer than that. It has been for many years one of the centres of culture in Europe.

Spain has an extraordinary artistic heritage. The dominant characters of the Golden Age were the Toledo-based artists El Greco and Diego Velázquez. Francisco de Goya emerged in the 18th century as the Spain's most prolific painter and he produced some wonderful portraits of royalty. Art in the early 20's has been influenced by a remarkable group of Spanish artists: Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris, Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí, ambassadors of the artistic culture in Spain.

Spain's architecture ranges from prehistoric monuments in Minorca in Balearic Islands to the Roman ruins of Merida and Tarragona, the decorative Lonja in Seville, Mudéjar buildings, Gothic cathedrals, castles, and Gaudi’s intricate fabulist sculptures in Barcelona. They are all representative of Spanish culture. It's something you can't miss if you go to Spain.

Another example of Spanish culture is the invention of the Spanish guitar. It was invented in Andalusia in the 1790's when a sixth string was added to the Moorish lute. It gained its modern shape in the 1870's. Later, Andrés Segovia (1893-1997) established classical guitar as a genre. Flamenco, music of the giranos (gypsies) from Andalusia, has been experiencing a revival. Paco de Lucia is the best known flamenco guitarist in the world.

You can discover all different facets of Spanish culture by yourself during your Internship in Spain and you can also enjoy visiting large cities or small villages in the countryside.

Food is more than a need in Spain. Actually, it is a way of life. Tourists travelling to Spain are often given a useful piece of advice – Spanish people eat late. Don't expect many restaurants to be open before 7 p.m. and if you are used to eat around this time, you won't be likely to see many Spanish people sharing tables. The Spanish dinner is often light because they have a large lunch with the early evening tradition of tapas. Paella is also very famous in Spain and you can eat it in every Spanish restaurant.

Tapas are probably one of the most admired and imitated concept of Spanish cuisine around the world, inspiring thousands of bars and restaurants. The most famous Spanish drinks are Sangria, Liquor 43, Coffee with milk, coffee with ice cubes and cocktails.

Spanish cuisine uses a lot of meat, depending on region's farming and tradition. Chicken, pork and rabbit feature many dishes and meat products like sausages and salamis are in a different class. Particularly chorizo, Spain's most appreciated spicy sausage. Prawns and shrimps are extremely popular, and anchovies and sardines are both widely consumed. All these can make an appearance in the ubiquitous fish soup which varies from region to region. Gazpacho is another famous Spanish soup, made with tomato, olive oil, garlic, cucumbers and croutons, served chilled.

From the countless reasons that can spur students to do an internship in Spain, without mentioning Paella or Corrida, nightlife is undoubtedly the most attractive aspect of Spain. Indeed Spain has the reputation to be joyful and very convivial. The Spanish, more than any other people like to go out and the “calor” (warmth) of their nights (even in winter) is well known! To experiment it, visitors have to be aware of the basic rules of a Spanish night and to be prepared to the intensive rhythm of a Spanish night.

Usually a Party night in Spain starts with a glass (or more…) in a café or in a “tasca” (kind of pub where people eat Tapas also). Once it has started, you will not stay alone at your table: you will be chatting with completely unknown people. Spanish people seem to dislike quiet ambiances.

A small munch during the night? Then you have the choice between those « tapas » again, or charm full traditional restaurants. Spanish people don’t like to eat at home alone. The only thing is to be patient, as the dinner is used to be served around 10:00 pm. During the summer, some people even have dinner around midnight!

Afterwards several choices are up to you… culture addicts will go to the cinema or theatre. Others can chose between the plenty of musical places that appear everywhere at nightfall. A smart choice will be enter a nightclub: in every town or sea resort you will find the one that suits you, and they are opened until the morning. For those who still want to sleep for some hours, the local pubs will be enough, with their cheap drinks and musical ambiance. Generally, they close around 3:00 in the morning

Spain: delicious food, beautiful beaches and a lot of sun. A great destination to spend a few weeks, especially during the summer months.

The Spanish coast is about 2.485,48 miles long along wonderful seas. In the north of the coastline lies the Bay of Biscay. In the east and south of the coastline lies the Mediterranean Sea and in the west and south lies the Atlantic Ocean. These three seas are appreciated by millions of tourists.

The tourism has become in Spain one of the most important sources of income for the country. You can see,for example, that the inhabitants are moving from the inland to the coasts.

A lot of tourists have a summerhouse in Spain, so they can come back every year. The hotels and the campsites in Spain are during the summer months largely full, that’s why people choose more often to avoid the busy periods.
