Maybe this internship is your first experience abroad, or besides your internship, you’ve never had been in Spain before or you just have never been in Barcelona. Here are some pieces of advice if you go to Barcelona on your free day during your internship. Take the train to the station called Barcelona Plaça Catalunya. From there, you need to take the metro with the green signs (L3) till the stop called Liceu. From this place,you are really close to the first sight you must see, Palau Güell, a town mansion. After you’ve seen Palau Güell, you need to take the metro with the green signs (L3) till the station Espanya. You will arrive at Plaça Espanya, one of the most important squares in Barcelona. After you have seen Plaça Espanya, you take again the metro with the green signs (L3) till the stop called Maria Cristina. Near this station, you will find the Camp Nou, the football stadium of the local team, FC Barcelona. And the end, when it is getting dark, you take the metro (L3) back to Plaça Espanya. From here you walk in the direction of Montjuïc. Here you will find the Magic Fountains.

Palau Güel is an another exciting place to visit. The Palau Güell is a town mansion in Barcelona, designed by the famous Catalan Antoni Gaudi for the Catalan industrial tycoon named Eusebi Güell.

The home is centered on a main room for entertaining high society guests. Guests entered the home in horse drawn carriages through the front iron gate, which featured a parabolic arch and intricated patterns of forged iron-work resembling seaweed and in some parts a horsewhip. Animals could be taken down a ramp and kept in the livery stable in the basement where the servants resided, while the guests went up the stairs to the receiving room.
The ornate walls and ceilings of the receiving room disguised small viewing windows high on the walls where the owners of the home could view their guests from the upper floor and get a 'sneak peak' before greeting them, in case they needed to adjust their attire accordingly.

The main party room has a high ceiling with small holes near the top where lanterns were hung at night from the outside to give the appearance of a starlit sky.

In 2004, public visits were completely suspended due to renovations; some of the stone used in the original construction was weak and has cracked over the years causing structural problems within the building. Since the first of february 2008, Palau Güell has been partially reopened to the public, with access to limited parts of the building only.

Plaça Espanya is one of Barcelona´s most important squares, built on the occasion of the 1929 International Exhibition, held at the foot of Montjuïc, in the Sants-Montjuïc district.

The square was built on a site that had been previously used for public hangings, until the creation of the now demolished Ciutadella fortress in 1715, where the gallows were moved.

It was designed in 1915 and built in 1929 so as to host the 1929 Universal Exposition. In 1928, the dictator Miguel Primo de Rivera, who led the Spanish government at the time, ordered the pulling down of the four Ionic columns known as Les quatre columnes, built ten years before by Puig i Cadafalch, that symbolised the four bars of the Catalan flag as part of his banning of all Catalan symbols. The square has been in public use since then.

If you are interested in fotball, you should visit the football stadium Camp Nou. The Camp Nou has been the home of FC Barcelona since its construction in 1957. It is a UEFA 5-star rated stadium, and has hosted numerous international matches at senior level, and UEFA Champions League finals. It has a capacity of 98,787, making it the largest stadium in Europe, and the eleventh largest in the world. Its official name was Estadi del FC Barcelona (FC Barcelona Stadium) until 2000, when the club membership voted to change the official name to the popular nickname, Camp Nou, what means new field.

You can visit every corner of the stadium and get a first hand look at the places where day to day life takes place at the club and feel the magic of a five star venue. Children below 6 years can get in for free. Between 6 and 13 you need to pay  € 14,00 en adults pay € 17,00 to go along with the tour.

The magic fountain of Montjuïc's first performance was on May 19, 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition. The designer Carles Buigas submitted his plans one year before the exhibition and many thought that the project was too ambitious to be created, let alone completed on time.
Over 3000 workers were commissioned to work on the project and less than 1 year later the magic fountain was born.

The magic fountain is a spectacular display of colour, light, motion, music and water acrobatics - if you mix all these elements together in just the right combinations, you end up with pure magic! The magic fountain is a "must see" when you come to Barcelona and highly recommended.
